Iryna Kurachkina victorious at European Wrestling Championships in Warsaw

Iryna Kurachkina won a gold medal (57kg) at the European Wrestling Championships in Warsaw.

The Belarusian faced Anhelina Lysak of Poland in the 57kg freestyle final. Iryna took a confident lead from the start and earned a four-point advantage. Then she conducted several more successful moves to score the ultimate win.

This is the second European crown for Iryna Kurachkina. She won her first in 2018.

Belarus’ NOC President Viktor Lukashenko congratulated Iryna Kurachkina on her victory, noting her desire for success.

“Dear Iryna! This success is especially important in the Olympic year. The first place at the European Championship shows that Belarus has great traditions and expertise in wrestling. We hope that you will continue to bring joy to your fans with more good results. We wish you health and new victories,” the message of greetings reads.

Earlier Veranika Ivanova of Belarus won a bronze medal (62kg) in Warsaw.

The European Wrestling Championships in Warsaw will continue with Greco-Roman wrestling competitions.
