The III Winter Youth Olympic Games were held in Lausanne (Swiss Confederation) from January 9 to January 22, 2020 year.
The opening ceremony took place on January 9 at the new ice rink Vaudoise Aréna.
880 athletes from more than 70 countries took part in the III Winter Youth Olympic Games, 81 sets of medals were awarded in 8 sports of kind in 16 disciplines.
Biathlon, cross-country skiing, hockey, alpine skiing, figure skating, Nordic combined, short track, speed skating, ski jumping, bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, curling, freestyle, snowboarding and ski mountaineering.
The Belarusian delegation in Lausanne was represented in biathlon (3 boys and 3 girls), alpine skiing (1 boy), speed skating (2 boys and 2 girls), skiing (2 boys and 2 girls), ice hockey – 3*3 tournament (4 boys).
The total number of athletes: 19 (12 boys and 7 girls).
The head of the Belarusian delegation was the head of the NOC International relations department, Vasili Iourtchik.
The Belarusian team won two medals at the III Winter Youth Olympic Games: Ilia Korzun won gold medal in the 3x3 ice-hockey tournament, and Yulia Kavaleuskaya won bronze medal in biathlon. Max Fiodarau and Varvara Bandarina were one step away (4th place) from the podium in speed skating in the mass start.
