Arina Sabalenka number 1 at the World Women's Tennis Association

Arina Sobolenko from Minsk became the first racket of the world according to the World Women's Tennis Association (WTA).

Despite losing in the final match of the US Open, Sobolenko beat Polish tennis player Iga Sventek, who was unable to defend her title in New York. The newly-crowned winner of the American championship, Corey Gauff, rose to third place.

Arina Sobolenko became the second representative of Belarus, who managed to take the first position in the world ranking. Earlier, such success was achieved by Victoria Azarenka, who now occupies the 23rd place. Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich is in the 102nd position.

– I am most proud of the fact that most often I managed to cope with emotions, focus on myself during the tournament, and not on the rating, – said Arina Sobolenko, who burst into tears after the final.
