Bardzilouskaya clinches trampoline silver at 2024 Paris Olympics

Belarusian trampoliner Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya won silver in trampoline at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The event featured 16 athletes. In the qualification the Belarusian scored 56.340 to place second for the final behind Tokyo champion Xueying Zhu of China.

In the final the Belarusian scored 56.060, the result which was beaten only by reigning world champion Bryony Page of the UK, who scored 56.480. Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya took silver, and bronze went to Sophiane Methot of Canada (55.650).



“I’ve got mixed emotions. The chances were unpredictable but real. All that I showed today in Paris is the work of my coaches, the work of Olga Vlasova, Olga Konon. I would like to thank them for everything they taught me, for the performance I delivered today. Perhaps it was not the best performance, but it was worth it.”

At the final press conference Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya was very popular with journalists.

Viyaleta, how many points would you give yourself for today's performance?

“I scored 56.060. Not the highest score for the Olympic final. Only if I hadn't made some mistakes. But in general, I did well. The atmosphere here at Bercy is amazing. I tried to zone everythong out and focus on my jumps. I concentrated. I have my coaches, the support of Olga Vlasova, who means a lot to me. She invested so much in me and in my jumps,” the Belarusian noted. “I am glad that I pulled myself together at the right time, showed a good performance, although I allowed some mistakes. Coach Olga Vlasova also supported me. The medal is very precious for all of us.”

At the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, Bardzilouskaya won the first medal to Belarus.

Belarus’ previous highest place in the women's trampoline was Tatsiana Piatrenia’s 5th place in 2012 and 2016.

The Olympic silver is the best result for the 19-year-old Belarusian in her adult career. Prior to that, Violetta's personal best was 7th place at the World Cup in Baku in 2022. This season, the Belarusian performed at two World Cups, finishing 10th in Azerbaijan and 12th in Germany.
