Belarus, Russia call on world community to ensure athletes’ right to compete

Belarus and Russia call on the world sports community to ensure that all athletes have their legitimate right to perform and represent their countries in all competitions without exception and to restore the independence and autonomy of the Olympic movement. The relevant declaration was adopted at the joint meeting of the athletes' commissions of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus and the Russian Olympic Committee in Ufa on 18 October.

During the working meeting, chairmen of the athletes' commissions of the two countries Aliaksandr Bahdanovich and Yuriy Borzakovskiy emphasized that the relations between Belarusian and Russian athletes have become significantly stronger in recent years. The number of joint events keeps increasing. Special attention is paid to young athletes and tournaments with their participation. The parties also discussed cooperation plans for the next year, which promises to be very eventful for the commissions of the two countries.
