Alina Shauchuk of Belarus won gold in the 68kg weight category at the ongoing 2025 European Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
In the final Alina Shauchuk faced Romania’s Kateryna Zelenykh to secure a 2-1 victory.
On the way to the podium the Belarusian wrestler defeated Albina Drazhi of Albania, Türkiye’s Buse Tosun, and Ukraine’s Manola Skobelska.
Alina Shauchuk is a reigning U23 European champion and a two-time medalist of the World Junior Wrestling Championships.
Belarus won five medals on the first four days of the competitions. Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau clinched silver. The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist performed in the 86kg event, a new weight category for the wrestler, and successfully went through the qualifying. In the semifinal he defeated Russia’s Artur Naifonov.
In the decisive bout Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau led 5-1 against Magomed Ramazanov of Bulgaria but lost 5-9.
Bronze medals were secured by Aryan Tsiutryn, Natallia Varakina, Anastasiya Zimiankova, and Dzianis Khramiankou.
