Belarusian freestyler Dmitri Dashinski took the 2nd place in freestyle aerials at the fourth stage of the World Cup, which was held in Lake Placid, BelTA informs.
Having joined the top 12 finalists with the 7th result (114.81 points), Dmitry was the 3rd in the fight for four places to the super final (120.36). And in the final stage, with 112.72 points, he finished the second. He gave the way only to overall standings leader Jia ZongAng from China (115.38), who has won this season three stages out of four .
It’s the second podium for two-times Olympic medalist (silver at Torino-2006 and bronze at Nagano-1998) Dmitri Daschinski this season. On January, 12 he won the World Cup stage in Val Saint-Côme, Canada.
Two more Belarusian skiers managed to qualify for the finals at World Cup stage in Lake Placid among the 12 finalists. Denis Osipov took the 6th place in qualification (115.23), and ended up the 10th in the finals (80.97). 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games champion Alexei Grishin who resumed performing after a long-time back injury treatment took the 9th place in qualification and reached the 5th place in the finals. He needed just 2 points to qualify for the super final.
Another representative of Belarus Maxim Gustik ended up his performance by the results of qualification, having fiinished 24th (82,24) among 35 participants.
A Belarusian Timothy Slivets, who received Russian citizenship after the 2010 Olympics and is competing now for this country, took the 1st place (123,01) in qualification, but in the final was only the 6th and didn’t get into Super Final.
In the World cup overall standings in ski aerials according to the results of two stages the Belarusian athlete Dmitri Dashinski is on the 4th place(183 points), Denis Osipov is the 7th (130), Alexey Grishin – 19th (68), Maksim Gustik- 21st (56), Dmitry Glushakov- 30th (14), Stanislav Gladchenko is on the 31st place(13) among 40 athletes.
In the top-3 of the overall standings are Jia Zongyang (China) - 340 points, Gi Guangpu (China)-192 and David Morris (Australia)-184.
The 5th World cup stage in ski aerials will take place on February, 1st in Dear Valley (USA). The present World Cup event has 7 stages.
