The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus attended the 54th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) which was held in Frankfurt, Germany on 28 February-1 March.
The delegation of the NOC of Belarus was represented at the meeting by Secretary General, two-time Olympic medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Ksenia Sankovich and Head of the International Relations Department Vasily Yurchik.
The National Olympic Committee of Belarus received an official invitation to take part in the European Youth Olympic Festival 2025 in Skopje. The details of sending athletes to the competitions where Belarusians will perform were also discussed.
The NOC delegation held talks with the IOC leadership and presidents of international winter sports federations on the participation of Belarusians in the upcoming Olympic Games 2026 in Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo, and also admission to the qualifying selection for the Winter Games.
The EOC Director and Executive Committee elections were held as part of the General Assembly.
President Spyros Capralos was re-elected unanimously as EOC President alongside vice-President Daina Gudzinevičiūtė and treasurer Peter Mennel.
Italian NOC Secretary General Carlo Mornati was elected as new EOC Secretary General, and will replace Raffaele Pagnozzi, who is retiring after 19 years in the role.
The Istanbul 2027 European Games Host City Contract was signed as part of the meeting.
The agenda of the event also included the forthcoming Winter Olympic Milano Cortina Games 2026, the Istanbul 2027 European Games, the EOC Strategic Agenda 2030 and other issues.
Hungarian taekwondo athlete Viviana Márton (securing Hungary’s first-ever Olympic taekwondo gold medal) was named the winner of the 13th Summer Piotr Nurowski Prize. The athlete received the award during the General Assembly meeting.
