An extended meeting of the NOC Belarus mass media commission was held at the NOC Belarus press centre 50 days before the XXX summer Olympic Games start in London.
At the very beginning of the meeting the journalists that have been appointed by the NOC Belarus Executive Committee to give coverage to the Olympic Games have received their accreditation passes.
As was communicated before, the representatives of the following mass media are going to London: BelTA, “Sovetskaya Belorussia”, “Sportivnaya panorama”, “Zviazda”, “Respublica”, “Pressball” (6 reporters and 4 photographers).
The First Vice-President of the NOC Belarus Igor Zaichkov told the members if the commission as well as the journalists that thus far 139 athletes in 24 sports have qualified for the Olympic Games in London. The qualification process is still in progress in swimming, tennis and athletics. Mr.Zaichkov appealed to the representatives of mass media to cover the preparation and participation of our athletes in a positive way so as to give them confidence and impetus to win.
NOC Belarus Vice-President Sergey Teterin shared Mr.Zaichkov’s views and pointed out that every little thing matters in sport. No one can prevent the journalists from criticism in their articles and their broadcasts but an objective coverage might contribute to an athlete’s success.
Besides Denis Dudinski, director of sport broadcasting department of the National state TV and radio company told the public about the company’s plans for the period of the Olympic Games in London. As he put it: “The national TV-channel “Belarus-2” is going to literally become an “Olympic channel”. The first broadcasting starts on the 26th of June, 2012 with a football match of the Belarusian national football team. Then the channel will air up to 17 hours a day of sport broadcasting of the Olympic Games.
