Hanna Huskova is the 2018 Olympic champion and a silver medalist from the Beijing 2022 Games. In the second qualification round, Anna Derugo scored 71.63 points (17th place), and Anastasiya Andryianava scored 74.02 (16th place). Both Belarusians finished their competition in the qualification stage.

China’s Xu Mengtao became a two-time Olympic champion.

After her performance in the final, Huskova spoke about what they were aiming for and what factors influenced her final eighth-place result.

“You all saw it yourselves. I gave it 100 percent, executed my jumps cleanly, and then it’s up to the judges.”

Huskova was asked if she felt the judges had held her back during the qualification stage.

“I would agree, which is why it is so hard for me to comment on anything. If I had fallen, I could blame myself and say that I didn’t give 100 percent.”

The Belarusian athlete noted that this Olympic season has been a difficult one and that our freestyle skaters can only be supported:

“I can say that they could erect monuments to us while we’re still alive. In such a short period of time, only starting alpine skiing training in December, the girls - Andryianava and Derugo - and I managed to qualify for the Olympics and show everything we are capable of. And as everyone saw, we performed well. That’s why I have no comments regarding the scores. To me, this is very strange.”

“I’m very glad that I performed the program well. I had to do the jump in the final for the first time this season to increase the difficulty. I did everything for a medal, but unfortunately, there’s nothing to add. You all saw it yourselves. Even the stadium announcer said: ‘Bravisimo!’ However, that doesn’t change the fact that I’m not in the top six,” Hanna said.
