The Minsk Bisons secured the win on home ice. The Moscow side had previously lost to the Belarusian club in Minsk on 23 December with a score of 1-7 and were eager for revenge. However, the hosts quickly established a comfortable lead, first through Vadim Shipachyov’s precise shot and a follow-up by Nikita Pyshkailo 2-0. Sam Anas finished off a great play in the second period to make it 3-0. The forward struck again in the 45th minute, extending the lead. Sergei Kuznetsov then added a fifth for the home side.

The Minsk Bisons marked their coach’s 1,000th game with an important win. Dmitri Kvartalnov downplayed his personal achievement, reserving high praise for his players:

“One thousand games are just a number. What is far more satisfying is beating a top rival and taking over the league lead. That is the main thing,” Kvartalnov noted.

HC Dinamo Minsk will play their next KHL match against HC Salavat Yulaev Ufa on 30 December.
