Belarus marks Mother’s Day on 14 October. The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus wishes Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and, of course, to the wonderful athletes who have already become mothers.
In the run-up to this heartwarming holiday, the NOC of Belarus together with the Women and Sport Commission gathered famous athletes, champions and prizewinners of the Olympic Games, world and European championships, and the European Games for the Olympic breakfast.
Member of the NOC Executive Board and the Women and Sport Commission, Olympic champion in rowing Aliaksandr Bahdanovich congratulated the professional athlete moms on the holiday and gave them flowers and memorable gifts.
Children of the famous Belarusian athletes took part in various quests, helped themselves to sweet treats, told why their mother is the best and sang a beautiful song in honor of the holiday. Our famous athlete moms shared their stories about how to balance family and professional sport, why it is important to support fathers, and how to get back to training after a maternity leave.
Eight-time world champion, an Olympic bronze medalist (Athens 2004) in track cycling Natallia Tsylinskaya noted that such holidays should become a good tradition.
“We wanted Mother’s Day celebrations to be very beautiful and memorable, we wanted to show wonderful families of our athlete moms. The organizers chose an excellent format. We had a great time, took part in various competitions. Mothers and children really liked it,” said Liubou Charkashyna.
The event was attended by Vanesa Kaladzinskaya, Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova, Alla Tsuper, Natallia Tsylinskaya, Inna Zhukova, Tatsiana Sharakova, Liudmila Kalinchik, Maryna Zharskaya, Liubou Charkashyna, Kseniya Sankovich, Tatiana Drozdovskaya and Liudmila Vauchok with their children.
