Olympic New Year Tree, a traditional New Year’s party for children, took place in Minsk on 23 December
More than 300 children, together with their famous parents and grandparents, came to see the New Year's performance Seven Wishes. An interactive program with games, quests and dances immersed children and their parents into the world of adventure.
President of the National Olympic Committee Viktor Lukashenko made a welcoming speech before the start of the show. He wished everyone to be healthy and enjoy New Year and Christmas holidays. He wished fulfillment of dreams, including those of Belarusian Olympians who will soon head to the Beijing Games.
“Children from all over the country have gathered here for a celebration. They come from the cities and towns that hosted our Vytoki festival. Among the attendees are children and grandchildren of Olympic champions, Olympic medalists, athletes themselves. Today we all wish the same: to give best wishes to our loved ones, friends, families and, of course, our country.
Let the New Year tree light the lights not only for us, but also for our Olympians, who will face a serious test early next year - the Olympic Games. Let the luck be on the side of our athletes and bring them Olympic medals," President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko said.
Famous Belarusian athletes extended their greetings. For example, the gold medalist of the Beijing Olympics Andrei Aramnau noted that he expects a lot from 2022. He also said that he liked the atmosphere of the holiday very much.
"It's very cool here. It is great that the NOC hosts such events for our children. In the new year, I want to wish everyone patience and understanding, good luck, wisdom. Please, take care," said Olympic weightlifting champion Andrei Aramnau.
"You get into the festive mood as soon as you enter the hall. You immediately understand that the New Year is round the corner. My son loves such holidays very much," said Vanesa Kaladzinskaya, a bronze medalist in women's wrestling at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. She wished Happy New Year to everyone: “Happiness, love, joy, and a sea of positive emotions!”
“Happy New Year to everyone! May all your dreams come true and all your plans be fulfilled! I love such events. Today there are a lot of famous athletes here, but the main audience is children. They have received lots of positive emotions and gifts,” said London Rhythmic Gymnastics bronze medalist Liubou Charkashina, who marked her birthday on 23 December.
The NOC of Belarus joined the charity event Our Children and invited children from all regions of the country and various social institutions who took part in the 2021 cultural and sports festival “Vytoki. A Step Toward Olympus”. The social institutions were given certificates to buy sports equipment.
The New Year's party was full of ringing laughter and positive emotions. The children were most interested in inflatable bears and mascots of the sports clubs: Sky (handball), Softik (football) and Zhorik (volleyball).
All the children got sweet boxes from the NOC of Belarus.
