Polina Mikhalchuk wins Belarus’ first gold in Yakutia
Polina Mikhalchuk won the first gold medal for Team Belarus at the 8th Children of Asia International Games.

In the taekwondo final (+63kg) she defeated Firuza Ernazarova from Uzbekistan.

The winner commented on her success in Yakutsk. She noted that it was the first time she was competing in such a large-scale tournament and thanked her coach and parents for helping her perform at this tournament.

"In the final, I had a good first round, and then I let my opponent impose her game. Then I pulled myself together and realized that I wanted to win a gold medal," Polina Mikhalchuk. Said Belarusian taekwondo athletes won four awards on June 27:

1st place – Polina Mikhalchuk (+63kg)
2nd place – Anastasia Smirnova (-63kg)
2nd place – Stepan Hoydz (55 kg)
3rd place – Uladzimir Maroz (48 kg)

The medals are awarded in a special ceremony in the Yakutsk city center.
