Belarusian athletes have clinched four gold, four silver and four bronze medals in Raubichi.
More than 70 biathletes from Belarus and Russia took part in the competition, competing for 10 sets of medals.
The triumphant of the tournament was Anton Smolski who won three individual golds: in Sprint, Pursuit and Mass Start. Dzinara Smolskaya won silver in Sprint and Pursuit, Dzmitry Lazousky placed second in Mass Start. Ilya Auseyenka won bronze in Sprint, Stsiapan Danilau in Pursuit, Irina Shakleina in Mass Start.
Anton Smolski and Dzinara Smolskaya won Mixed Singles Relay, and Hanna Sola and Ilya Auseyenka came in second. The Mixed Relay quartet climbed to the third step of the podium.
Viktor Lukashenko congratulated the members of the national biathlon team on their successful performance at the Best Athletes Cup.
“Dear athletes! You and your coaches have come a long way, putting in a lot of effort, work and time every day. I also want to acknowledge once again your great perseverance and determination to win.
Twelve medals at the Best Athletes Cup are an excellent result. Today, your family and friends, teammates and, of course, a huge number of fans are proud of you, and what's more, the whole of Belarus supported you and rooted for you! Thank you for the emotions you gave us.
The head of the NOC wished the athletes good health and further solid victories. “May the track be easy and the shooting always accurate,” the congratulations read.
The biathletes also received congratulations from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
“Congratulations on your excellent performance at the Best Athletes Cup! Belarusian athletes showed once again the top of their game and the will to win on the Raubichi tracks. Your successes strengthen the glorious traditions of national biathlon and inspire young people to take up sports. I wish you well-being, good health and inexhaustible energy for new achievements.”
