Svirydzenka adds silver to gold medal haul in Italy
Raman Svirydzenka of Belarus has become the silver medalist at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Italy.

In the 10km interval start classic race in the LW2-LW9 categories (standing athletes with limb impairments), Raman posted the second-fastest time, 27:38.4. France’s Karl Tabouret outpaced the Belarusian by nearly half a minute to take gold, 27:10.7

As was reported, the day before the Belarusian became Paralympic champion in the cross-country sprint.

Belarus’ Darya Fedzkovich rounded out the top ten in the women's 10km interval start classic race.

The women’s 10km individual race in the LW10-LW12 categories (sitting) took place on 11 March. Belarus’ Lidziya Loban finished 11th with a time of 30:07.9, and Belarus’ Valiantsina Biryla finished 14th (30:53.1) out of 19 participants. Oksana Masters from the USA claimed gold.

President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko congratulated Raman Svirydzenka on winning the silver medal at the XIV Winter Paralympic Games in Italy.

“You have once again managed to demonstrate to the whole world the highest level of skill, fortitude, and will to win. This second Paralympic medal in our team’s collection glorifies Belarus and serves as proof of the strong traditions of Paralympic sport in our country.”

The head of the NOC wished the athlete health, future accomplishments, standout wins, and the drive to never stop pushing forward.
