The opening ceremony of the sports and cultural festival Vytoki took place in Postavy.
The ceremony was quite unusual, partly because it was held in a skate park, which was a gift to the town from the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
The new sports facility in Postavy was inaugurated by President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Subbotin and Chairman of the Postavy District Executive Committee Sergei Chepik.
“We are officially opening our Vytoki festival in a town with a rich historical and cultural heritage. Most importantly, this is a place known for its kind, decent and hardworking people who love sports and live a healthy lifestyle. This is the reason why the festival is taking place in your beautiful town. Our much-loved festival is a family event, it is a mixture of sports, culture and education. Its key feature is that it brings together people with different views, backgrounds and beliefs. No matter how different we can be, we stand together, we are united in our love for the country, our homeland, children, and sports. Together we strive to explore new horizons.
This is the 21st edition of the festival that is being held for the fifth year.
This year we continued the format that we tried last year. All the good things were preserved, and new features were added.
Today, our friends, Russian brothers, are with us. Russian champions together with Belarusian athletes held clinics for children in the morning. We and our co-organizers have brought a gift for your town. This gift is this wonderful roller skating park. We are sure that the youth will like it. Good luck, have a good mood, and we invite you tomorrow to our sports festival! Let children participate and receive well-deserved gifts, and let parents help them choose a sport that may become the purpose of their lives,” said Viktor Lukashenko.
The head of the National Olympic Committee invited everyone to come to the festival the next day, when a large-scale Olympic Quest will take place.
The first to test the new facility were people who do skateboarding, BMX and breakdance.
The second day of the festival wrapped up with the musical performance titled 'Fancy Vaudeville'.
The Vytoki festival was organized by the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, ArtHaos Art Gallery, BelBrandAudit and the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee.
