Belarusian weightlifter Yauheni Tsikhantsou, the Paris Games bronze medallist, showed his best in the 102kg event at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau, Moldova.
The Belarusian succeeded in the snatch, lifting 181kg in his third attempt and leaving his opponents far behind.
Yauheni Tsikhantsou also made it work in the clean and jerk with the lifts of 207kg, 215kg, and 218kg. Thus, the Belarusian made all six lifts for a sweep of golds on 181-218-399, finishing two kilos above Spain’s Marcos Ruiz.
Earlier, Siuzanna Valodzka of Belarus claimed bronze.
The 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau will be over on 21 April.
Yauheni Tsikhantsou clinched European champion titles in 2019 and 2024. The Belarusian athlete is also a bronze medalist of the 2024 Olympic Games and a champion of the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships.
