The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus held a meeting on 12 November to discuss the possibility of organizing an international beach volleyball tournament in Minsk in 2025.
The meeting at the NOC headquarters featured President of the NOC of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko, Secretary General of the NOC of Belarus Ksenia Sankovich, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Belarusian Volleyball Federation Vladimir Vashchenko, Secretary General of the Belarusian Volleyball Federation Alla Teterina. The Russian delegation included Advisor to the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Education and Sport Yegor Yuryev, Vice President and General Director of the Russian Volleyball Federation Andrei Gorbenko and Advisor to the head of the Russian Volleyball Federation Yuri Yuryev.
The parties discussed prospects and conditions for the organization of a joint international beach volleyball tournament in Minsk in 2025. Given Russia’s experience, it is expected that the open-format competition will attract the best Belarusian and Russian players, as well as strong foreign teams.
According to the organizers, such a large-scale sporting event can help Minsk residents and visitors learn more about beach volleyball, a spectacular sport gaining increasing popularity worldwide, and ensure unforgettable impressions and emotions for fans.
