Belarusian athletes have taken part in 11 editions of the Olympic Games since the NOC Belarus was established. 92 Belarusian athletes have become Olympic Champions and prize-winners. They have won 91 Olympic medals: 18 gold, 28 silver and 45 bronze ones.

Due to his adherence to sport and great personal contribution to the development of the Olympic Movement, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was elected the President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus on 15 May 1997.
His presidency has given impetus to national sports life. Central stadiums and Olympic sports complexes have been reconstructed; a lot of modern sports facilities have been created.
President's scholarships for athletes have been set up. Ice-hockey, biathlon, football, athletics, boxing, rowing, tennis, weightlifting and other Olympic sports have received further development.
There have been created necessary sports facilities for promotion of mass physical culture, junior and youth sport, as well as for high level sport.
For his great contribution to the development of sports and the Olympic movement as President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was award by two special prizes of the International Olympic Committee.

It also provides assistance in working out appropriate comprehensive preparation programs for the national teams of the
The NOC Belarus provides technical and financial support to federations for implementation of the IOC Programs, renders assistance in the pre-Olympic preparations of athletes, organizes participation of Belarusian athletes in European Youth Olympic Festivals and Olympic Games.
The aim of cooperation between the NOC Belarus and sport public associations is to promote elite sport, Olympic movement, successful preparation of Belarusian athletes for the Olympic Games as well as improving health, physical and moral development of people.
