Basketball. Anatoli Buyalski: “You should always accept challenge and do your best!”

The Belarusian basketball team lost to the Turkish opponents with the score of 71:74. Their next match will be against the Australians, according to the NOC of Belarus.

Ahead of the decisive match both team had 4 points with two lost games and one won under their belt. Unfortunately, our team was overwhelmed in the very end of the meeting.

“Sad to say that we have only 7 players who can endure immense stress in such top-level events. It’s not enough to be an elite player, emotional control remains an indispensable trait of great athletes. Our base-line players Harding and Likhtarovich were exhausted to play the entire game nonstop, I couldn’t require more from them. Harding’s trauma also affected our defense tactics. Tatyana Troina could hit the basket and win the game, but she was in a disadvantageous position to attack by the end of the game. I’m grateful to the girls for their selfless struggle.”

Their next opponents are the Australian basketball players and the US team.

“We are zeroing in on the upcoming matches; still it’s too complicated to make precise predictions. The Australian team is a serious opponent, so we will maximize our efforts. You should always accept challenge and do your best”.

The final day of qualification tournament our team will face the Australian team on the playground.

Four best teams from each group will go on competing for medals.
