The Belarusian U18 ice hockey squad were stronger than their peers from Latvia, following the score 2:0 (0:0, 1:0, 1:0) of the top division match held in frames of the Junior World Championship in Slovakia.

The first match of the two-wins series showcased the Belarusian effectiveness in defense. Attacker Ihar Martynau opened the score in the 39 minute. The winning pack was shot in the 60 minute. The opponents replaced their goalkeeper with a sixth field player, but failed to tie the score. As a result, Vladislav Eremenko stroke an empty net (2:0).
The second match of the series is held on April, 21.
The Yuri Faikou’s team was beaten four times in the group stage by the teams of the US (0:7), the Czech Republic (4:7), Sweden (2:3) and Russia (1:4) and placed fifth.
Today the ¼ finals feature Finland vs the Czech, Canada vs Sweden, Russia vs Slovakia, the USA vs Switzerland games.
