The Belarusian basketball women’s team has qualified for the EuroChamp 2017 since it is ultimately placed second in the qualification Group G.

It was announced after reveal of the qualifying tournament results. Belgian team crashed Polacks (77:61) and secured first place in the Group. The overall standing is as follows: Belgium – 7 points, Belarus – 6 points, Poland – 5 points.

Nine winning teams will play at the EuroChamp, including teams of Slovenia, France, Italy, Ukraine, Hungary, Russia, Belgium, Turkey, and Spain. Besides, the next six best second-ranked teams are accepted to the Championship as well: Belarus, Latvia, Greece, Serbia, Slovakia, and Montenegro. The 36th European Championship will be held on June 16-27, 2017 in the Czech Republic. The Czech team will also take part in the EuroBasket as a host. The draw of the group final tournament is scheduled for December 9.

The Belarusian women’s basketball team debuted at the European Championship 2007 in Italy, when they took two bronze medals. In 2009 and 2015 the team finished fourth, in 2013 the secured fifth position and in 2011 they were eleventh.
