Belarusian ice hockey player Illia Korzun won the gold medal at the III winter YOG

In the final match the “green” team, which colors are defended by the Belarusian player, beat opponents from the “red” team with a total score of 10:4.

Earlier, on January 11, the finalists had met in Lausanne at the preliminary stage, there the “green” team was stronger in the penalty shoot – 9:8.

The final was tense. The “green” team leaded with a score of 3:0, but the opponents managed to make up ground to a minimum of 2:3. Then Illia Korzun's ice team successfully attacked their opponents and achieved a landslide victory – 10:4.

In the preliminary round the “green” team won six times in seven matches. In the semifinals the international team was stronger than their opponents from the “black” team – 7:3.

Bronze medals went to the “brown” team, who beat Belarusian Daniil Karpovich's “black” team in the fight for awards with a score of 6:5. During the game course the “black” team leaded with the score of 3:1, but they could not hold the lead.

In biathlon center "Le Tuffes" Belarusian biathletes performed in the mixed relay. The team made up of Daria Kabishava, Viktorya Shahkova, Kanstantin Baburau and Andrei Haurosh, made four misses and used 15 additional rounds, and they took 17th place.

The biathletes from Italy won the gold medal, the Russians recieved the silver medal, and the French won bronze.

In St. Moritz, where the skating competitions are held, Karyna Shypulia was close to success in the team sprint. The Belarusian athlete from the team made up of Alina Dauranova’s (Kazakhstan), Diego Amaya Martinez (Colombia) and Zhi Wen Xie (China) showed a high result, which could get them to the podium, but her team was disqualified.

Our other skaters also didn't manage to become winners. Varvara Bandarina in the team made of four athletes took the fifth place in No. 7, Max Fiodarau (Quartet No. 1) – ninth, and Andrei Herman (Team No. 2) was ranked 11th line in the final protocol.

On January 16 the skaters will continue to perform at the Youth Winter Games on the team mass start.

After six days of competition at the III Winter Youth Olympic Games, the Belarusian team has two awards: Illia Korzun's gold and Yulia Kavaleuskaya’s bronze medal in biathlon.
