  From June 21st till June 23rd, 2012 numerous events dedicated to the International Olympic Day were held all over the Brest region.

Among the numerous events the most interesting ones were the following:

-sport competitions among secondary schools summer camps

-team sport competitions

  Main events dedicated to the International Olympic Day were held within the framework of the V regional Olympic sport competitions on the prizes of the Representative office of the NOC Belarus in the Brest region under the slogan “Olympians are among us!”between the best “Young Olympian” clubs of the cities and districts of the Brest region. It also symbolically crowned up the regional campaign “Olympism and youth” which was taking place in April-May 2012 in all the regions of the country.  

  The official events of the opening ceremony were organized at the Square of Olympic glory of Brest. The event was attended by the Chairman of the NOC Belarus Representative office in the Brest region, deputy Chairman of the Brest regional executive committee Leonid Tsuprik, head of the Administration of physical culture, sport and tourism of the Brest regional executive committee Nikolai Khevuk, director of the NOC Belarus Representative office in the Brest region Elena Belokonenko, famous athletes,  winners and participants of the Olympic Games Yaroslava Pavlovich and Irina Bazilevskaya (rowing), Inga Sviridovich and Yulia Khitraya (swimming), Evgeny Sobol (cycling), Maksim Kunda (archery), Yury Dolgopolov (shooting).

  This sport and education event has been held since 2008 and comprises both sport events and a wide educational program. It includes meetings with athletes and Olympic Champions where kids can ask questions and get an autograph of a favorite athlete, an Olympic quiz and a number of arts contests as well as exhibitions of contests art works.

  Within the International Olympic Day the winners of 3 regional contests, held in the Brest region in the run-up to the Olympic Games (sport post cards, sport doll and Olympic drawings),got diplomas and prizes from the Representative office of the NOC Belarus. Best teams received prizes such as sport equipment and printing products published for the Olympic Games.

  All the participants of sport and educational programs received certificates of a participant of the International Olympic Day.

  All in all more than 20 000 people from the Brest region took part in the events within the framework of the International Olympic Day.
