Belarus’ Volha Mazuronak was second to cross the finish line in the European 10,000m Cup women’s race.
One of the best Belarus long runners covered 10,000m with the second result in 32.13,73min behind winning Portuguese Sara Moreira (32.03,57). Reigning champion Esma Aydemir from Turkey clocked third in 32:41.03.
Mazuronak was backed up well by her teammates with Sviatlana Kudzelich (32:48.62) and Nastassia Ivanova (32:54.98) finishing fifth and sixth respectively which brought them team gold ahead of Portugal and Ukraine. Liudmila Lyakhovich placed 19th, Tatsiana Stefanenka appeared 31st (34.58,07). The three best athletes’ results were taken into account when determining the team results.
President of the European Athletics Association Svein Arne Hansen and President of the NOC Ukraine Sergey Bubka attended the European Cup. Seventy nine athletes from 18 countries came to Minsk to take part in the race.
The European Cup has been held on the regular basis from 1997.
