For the first time in the history of our country its representative gets co-opted onto the Olympic moveent governing body, reports the NOC Belarus press service.

The corresponding notification about inclusion of Maksim Ryzhenkov in the EOC EC was received on December 19, 2016.
The letter signed by Acting President Mr. Janez Kocijancic and Secretary General Mr. Raffaele Pagnozzi served notice as follows:
“Pursuant to your letter dated 22 October 2016, it is with great pleasure that we inform that it has been decided to co-opt you onto the EOC Executive Committee as ex-officio member for the 2019 European Games, and we very much hope that you will do us the honour of accepting.
The EOC Executive Committee looks forward to working with you for the staging of another memorable edition of the European Games in Minsk in 2019”.

Maksim Ryzhenkov’s inclusion in the EOC EC succeeded due to fruitful work of the NOC Belarus over 25 years, as well as intense development of the Belarus’ sports infrastructure and perfect arrangement of meaningful international forums, foremost the 45th GA EOC and events dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the NOC Belarus. It goes without saying that Ryzhenkov possesses vast experience in diplomacy, knowledge of foreign languages, outstanding administrative abilities, understanding and passion to sports, readiness to render help to athletes, coaches and specialists in their tough work. His public position will obviously facilitate the dialogue between Belarus and other members of the international Olympic movement and appropriate holding of the 2019 European Games”, commented Olympic champion Antonina Koshel, the President of the Belarusian Public Union of the Veterans of Physical Culture and Sports.
The EOC EC regular session is scheduled for January 26, 2017 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Its agenda will touch upon the organization and staging of the European Games 2019 in Minsk.
