Investments in the future of sports, support for young athletes and coaches are key priorities of the Presidential Sports Club, Chairman of the national state public association Presidential Sports Club Dmitry Lukashenko said at the general meeting of the Central Council of the club.
Dmitry Lukashenko was re-elected the head of the public association. The general meeting also elected the new composition of the Central Council. For the first time it included Chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Federation Sergei Rutenko and Chairman of the Belarusian Wrestling Federation Alim Selimov.

The chairman of the Central Council named the club's priorities. They include improving the work on addressing important tasks. The Presidential Sports Club will continue to actively participate in the organization of sports events and mass sports events in Belarus that are essential for promoting Belarusian sport, physical education and a healthy lifestyle. Support will be provided to research projects aimed at promoting physical education and sport and developing sports regulations, including the draft Sports Code of the Republic of Belarus.
Over the past five years, the Presidential Sports Club has taken part in organizing and holding more than 200 national and international competitions and large-scale sports projects.
Since 2021, a number of comprehensive national programs have been implemented with a view to improving the infrastructure of sports schools and streamlining the training of young athletes. In 2024 alone, the club helped arrange 24 major international and national competitions in 19 sports. Thus, in 2024, support was provided to federations in 18 sports.
Over the past five years, the club has issued over 2,000 scholarships to talented athletes across more than 45 sports (mostly Olympic ones), as well as coaches and teachers.
“The current elite of Belarusian sports has been supported by the Presidential Sports Club scholarship project at the start of their career. We have managed to significantly reduce the number of promising athletes and coaches who refuse to move on to adult sports; we give them the necessary support to fulfill their potential in full. Since the project was launched, scholarships have been awarded to both Olympic athletes and disabled athletes,” the head of the Presidential Sports Club noted.
