Currently, the Belarusian athletes compete for the right to perform in biathlon, freestyle, cross country skiing, speed skating, short track, figure skating. They are expected to obtain 23-30 licenses.
So far, the NOC Belarus, Sports and Tourism Ministry, sport federations have been thoroughly preparing for the Olympiad 2018. Contracts for coaches and athletes’ apparel, ticket programmes have been already concluded, as well as logistics, accommodation, technical and medical equipment issues have been negotiated in accordance with the federations’ applications submitted.
-In view of the strong athletes’ composition in our biathlon and freestyle delegations, these two teams are anticipated to win medals. Speed skating, short track and figure skating sport delegations stand a good chance, too. Though there’s licenses for the alpine skiing and cross country skiing events, there are also doubts we will succeed in this sports. I believe our Winter Olympians will make every effort to take medals, - said NOC Belarus Secretary General Anatol Kotau.
-The upcoming year is of extreme importance for all athletes. I do hope PyeongChang 2018 will bring us joy, success and medals, of course. We will work hard on it – everyone is full of energy and desire to achieve maximal results. I believe everything will be all right, - shared confidence Nadzeya Skardzina, the Belarusian bronze medalist in biathlon.
