The sports director of the Department of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Costa Iliev is on a visit in the Republic of Belarus from 27 to 29 January, 2015. Today, on January 28, Costa Iliev visited the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

In an official meeting in the conference room the Belarusian side was represented by:
Ryzhenkov Maksim - First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation.
Gagiev Aleksandr - First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus.
Anatol Kotau - Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
Questions on the agenda were following: the possibility of holding various international basketball tournament in the Republic of Belarus, the development of such areas as streetball 3x3 format, as well as issues on strengthening of cooperation of Belarusian side with FIBA.

-You have the opportunity to get acquainted with sports facilities in Minsk and to assess the potential development of basketball in the Republic of Belarus - first Vice-President of the NOC Belarus Maksim Ryzhenkov noticed. - We look forward to comprehensive assistance of the International Federation, as well as holding tournaments in our country at the highest level. I would like to stress that the development of the sport have governmental support and it is important to achieve positive results.
- We are ready for active cooperation and creation of conditions for events of all levels in our country - Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Aleksandr Gagiev said.

- I am pleased to visit Minsk. I know Belarusian basketball very well and I want to say that I was satisfied by what I saw, - the sports director of the Department of the International Basketball Federation Costa Iliev said in his response. - Belarus has a good chance to host international competitions. I’m also satisfied that the Belarusian Basketball Federation cooperate closely with the NOC Belarus and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, and it is necessary to achieve good results.

Guests were shown the museum exhibition and halls in which there is the possibility of holding congresses and meetings, press conferences, polls, view multimedia presentations and video implementation.

Costa Iliev
Born: May 13, 1962, Vidin (Bulgaria).
Citizenship: Bulgaria
Career: He began basketball career at "Chemist" in Vidin, then moved to the Bulgarian CSKA where he played more than 10 years and then retired. In addition, Costa Iliev played for the national team of Bulgaria.
After completion of the playing career Costa Iliev was invited to the International Basketball Federation. There Iliev was appointed as a sports director of FIBA Europe. In 2011 Costa Iliev was appointed as a sports director of the Department of 3x3 International Basketball Federation.
