Belarus’ Olympians return home

On 27 February the Belarusian sports delegation arrived from XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 in Minsk.

Among all Belarusian athletes, the biathlon quartet of Nadzeya Skardzina, Iryna Kryuko, Dzinara Alimbekava and Darya Domracheva was in the spotlight for the Olympic gold medal they won in women’s 4x6km relay.

Along with the biathletes, the national teams in speed skating, cross-country and alpine skiing were also accorded a warm welcome.

Scarcely had the delegation get off the plane, their families, friends and fans clustered around them. Distinguished Belarusian sports officials – First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Astashevich, First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Vyacheslav Durnov and Belarusian Biathlon Federation Deputy President Igor Kuznetsov – joined the cheering crowd to congratulate the Olympic champions on homecoming.

PyeongChang 2018 resulted in 3 Olympic medals for Belarus, including Hanna Huskova’s freestyle gold, Darya Domracheva’s silver and women’s biathlon team gold.
