Boki continues his medal haul winning gold in 400m Freestyle at Paris Paralympics

Belarusian swimmer Ihar Boki has won his third gold at the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.

On Saturday, the most decorated Belarusian Paralympian competed in the 400m Freestyle – S13, the discipline where he holds the world record. Ihar Boki made a powerful push at the end of the race clocking 3:58.37. After leading the race for a long time, French Para swimmer Alex Portal was forced to give up on the Belarusian swimming legend and finished second. The Frenchman shared the podium with his younger brother Kylian Portal who clinched bronze. Another Belarusian, Yauheni Kavalionak, finished eighth. Thus, after winning his third gold in Paris (100m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke), Ihar Boki became a 19-time Paralympic champion.

Earlier in the 100m Backstroke - S12 on 31 August, Belarusians Dzmitry Salei and Maksim Vashkevich both clocked 1:03:12 to share the fourth place. Great Britain’s Stephen Clegg set a world record of 59.02 en-route to gold in the Paris La Défense Arena. Dzmitry Salei's brother, Raman Salei who competes for Azerbaijan, finished second.
