The signing ceremony was attended by President of the Belarusian NOC Viktor Lukashenko and head of the Olympic Committee of Oman Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair.
The parties officially formalized the arrangements reached earlier to develop bilateral cooperation in sport. The two Olympic committees are ready to expand cooperation and strengthen friendly relations in order to promote Olympic values, develop mass sport and elite sports in the two countries.
"We are sincerely interested in cooperation. We will show you our sports capabilities and offer various options for further cooperation. But the main thing that I would like to highlight is that together we are opening a new chapter in the development of sport and sports relations between our countries," Viktor Lukashenko stressed. "Many young people in your country love sport and go in for sport, and we propose to start our cooperation with holding joint events: training camps and competitions both in our region and in your region.
Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair thanked the host party for the warm welcome and noted the importance of joining efforts in sport.
We are very happy to visit Belarus and looked forward to this visit. This cooperation is especially valuable and useful for us: your country has extensive experience and serious achievements in sport.
Interaction between Belarus and Oman involves the participation of athletes in competitions held in two countries, the organization of joint training camps, the exchange of sports specialists (coaches, doctors and experts), cooperation in children's and youth sport, participation in congresses, conferences, seminars and courses, the exchange of experience in the construction and maintenance of sports facilities, sports medicine, marketing, organization of events, and so on.
In the coming days, the delegation of the Sultanate is set to tour the sports infrastructure of Minsk: the multidisciplinary cultural and sports complex Minsk Arena, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, the Aquatics Center, a sports and shooting range, a golf club and other facilities.
