Yuliya Kavaleuskaya - bronze medalist of the Winter Games in Lausanne

The second competitive day of the III Winter Olympic Games in Lausanne brought the first medal to the national team of Belarus.

Yuliya Kavaleuskaya, who started in the group of the strongest in the individual race of 10 km, took third place.

After the first shooting at a mark of 2 km, the young biathlete took first place - 6 minutes. 29.7 sec Yulia did not work out a little on the second firing line, where she made two misses, but thanks to her good course in distance, she was able to stay in the lead.

As a result, with three misses on four firing lines, Yulia Kavaleuskaya won the bronze award of the Youth Olympic Games!

The first place in the individual 10 km race was taken by the Russian Alena Mokhova, who started after the Belarusian, and the second place was taken by Giane Richard from France.

After the finish, Yuliya Kavaleuskaya told the press service of the NOC of Belarus: "Before the start, I did not think about what a strong group I start the individual race. Then I saw at a distance that she had a better time, tried to hold on. On the last shooting standing came together, the Russian worked faster, but I was aimed at her to hold on, which helped to take a high place"

The Belarusian also rated the conditions of the competition. The bronze medalist added: "the skiing run is quite difficult, working. You have to be energized here all the time: you must work out on the hills and on the slopes. No time to rest. As for shooting... My mistakes, there is one point that I will keep to myself, but there is still something to work on."

Belarusian Daria Kabisheva finished 45th in the last race, and Victoria Shashkova was placed on the 84th line of the final protocol.

Competitions in biathlon in the sports center Le Tuffes will continue on January 12.
