Aryna Sabalenka named Sportswoman of the Year at Laureus World Sports Awards

Belarusian athlete Aryna Sabalenka has received the Laureus World Sports Award for Sportswoman of the Year.

The awards ceremony took place in Madrid.

The list of nominees for the Laureus award included Aitana Bonmatí (football), Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (athletics), Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon (athletics), Katie Ledecky (swimming), and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (athletics).

In 2025, the world number one won the US Open, the WTA-1000 tournaments in Miami and Madrid, along with the Brisbane finals. In 2026, Aryna secured the Sunshine Double, winning on hard courts at Indian Wells and Miami.

The Belarusian athlete has received this prestigious award for the first time.
