Aryna Sabalenka claims Miami Open title

World number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus captured the Miami Open title for the first time with a 7-5, 6-2 win over World No.4 Jessica Pegula of the United States in the final. The match lasted for an hour and 30 minutes.

The two players faced each other in the US Open final in 2024, with Aryna Sabalenka defeating Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5.

The Miami Open final was the first one in Aryna Sabalenka’s sporting career. It was also her 35th WTA final, with 19 titles won, and 12th WTA-1000 finals, with eight titles clinched. The Belarusian also showed her best to go through this year’s event without losing a set.

On her way to the new title, Aryna Sabalenka defeated Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova (World No.64), Romania's Elena-Gabriela Ruse (102), Danielle Collins (14) of the USA, China's Qinwen Zheng (9), Italy's Jasmine Paolini, and Jessica Pegula of the USA.
