Darya Domracheva awarded Olympic silver

On 18 February the victory ceremony of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games took place in the Medal Plaza in PyeongChang. Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva, the Hero of the Republic of Belarus, was awarded the silver medal.

The medal was handed over to Darya by International Olympic Committee representative Danka Barteková and Klaus Leistner, a representative of International Biathlon Union.

Darya Domracheva won the silver in mass start and thus extended her medal collection of 3 gold and one bronze awards that she had already won in Sochi 2014 and Vancouver2010. Darya holds a record for medals in individual biathlon events and is the only three-time Olympic champion in Belarus’ sovereign history.

Darya lost 18,8sec to Slovakia’s champion Anastasia Kuzmina. Tiril Eckhoff of Norway clinched the bronze.
