The Republican State Olympic Reserve Centre aided by the NOC Belarus and national sports federations implements new project on enhanced training for national teams in playing sports as from autumn 2016.

In future cores of national teams will be manned with the graduates of the Olympic Reserve Centre, including basketball, volleyball and handball players.

The Centre together with the NOC Belarus fulfills the programme of selection of best athletes across the country and forms them into teams, resolving concurrent financial issues.

One of the pinpoints of the programme presupposed holding of the first round of the European Youth Basketball League under the auspices of the Belarusian Basketball Federation on November 17-20, 2016.

The tournament was held in the playing hall of the Olympic Reserve Centre, where its team achieved five victories. They took the first place not only in the group, but in the second division as well.

The basketball team of the Republican Olympic Reserve Centre overwhelmed their rivals from Estonia (57:47), Russia (57:39), Latvia (57:47) and two teams of Lithuania (69:26 and 52:39 respectively).

Vadim Stubeda became one of the 10 top scorers of the division and occupied the 8th position in the list. He is also 3rd concerning effectiveness. Artyom Lukyanenko was acknowledged  1st in assistance.

Head coach Alexander Poderachev has been training the team for less than a month. Last season he led the team U-18. Now he is in charge of the U-16, which has been formed in the Republican Olympic Reserve Centre and will debut at the tournament in memory of Vladimir Ryzhenkov.
